Overview
Betaine, chemical name N,N,N-trimethylglycine, molecular formula C5H11NO2, molecular weight 117.146, CAS registration number 107-43-7. Betaine belongs to quaternary ammonium base substances, is an alkaloid, widely found in animals, plants and microorganisms.
Chemical properties:
The melting point of betaine is 301 to 305℃, the density is 1.00g/cm³, the appearance is white crystalline powder, odorless, sweet. It is soluble in water, methanol and ethanol, and slightly soluble in ether.
